According to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA): Up to $1,428 per quarter will be paid in 2025 to qualified low-income workers under Canada Workers Benefit Act to provide important economic support to low-income workers to cope with rising expenses.
What Is Canada Workers Benefit?
The Canada Working Tax Benefit consists of a refundable tax credit that supplements income for recipients of low-income earnings and working families with low incomes. It was crafted by replacing the Working Income Tax Benefit [WITB] in order to allow communities to encourage work and participation in employment.
It is a combination of two main elements:
- Basic Amount: For eligible individuals or families
- Disability Supplement: For persons eligible for the disability tax credit
What Will Be New for 2025?
As of 2025, the benefit has been further increased with the CRA affirming the maximum benefit amount available remains \$1,428 per quarter for an individual, so that all-in-all this amount would translate to \$5,712 of annual earnings one working person can get made eligible under one of the heftiest financial uplifts offered under the CWB.
General Advance Payments are a kind of advanced payments under the Automatic Advance Payments system that allow recipients to receive their payments throughout the year as opposed to having to wait until tax season.
Who is Eligible for the CWB?
To be eligible for the CWB in 2025:
- Be at least 15 years old on Dec. 31, 2024
- Reside in Canada for the entire year
- Earn working income but under an income threshold
- Cannot be in full-time studies unless he/she has responsibility for a dependent or is married
- Cannot be confined in prison or a similar institution for a period exceeding 90 days within the year.
For an individual, the benefit will phase out at about $24,975 and cease at about $33,000. For a family, this phase-out starts at a much higher value.

Most qualifying Canadians receive the CWB automatically when filing for their income tax return. You may check your eligibility or the payment schedule by logging into your CRA My Account or by visiting the official CWB-page.
