R510 SASSA Child Support Grant Deposits This Week: Parents Urged To Check Now

R510 SASSA Child Support Grant is being disbursed by SASSA to all eligible beneficiaries throughout the country. This much-needed grant is a lifeline for millions of poor families trying to provide for basic needs for their children, like food, clothing, and education. Parents and guardians are thus encouraged to check their accounts within this week to verify whether the money has been credited thereto.

Grant Payment Timing

According to SASSA’s official payments schedule for July 2025, the Child Support Grant disbursement began this week, though most deposition of funds should be seen on recipients’ accounts by Friday, 5 July 2025. In very rare cases of delay, beneficiaries are encouraged to remain calm and patient and not start panicking if it does not immediately reflect. Disbursement is usually done into SASSA cards or bank accounts and can also be drawn from retailers and post office pay points.

Why R510?

This amount of R510 is the present grant amount considered standard for Child Support Grants as set by the South African government. It was supposed to be raised to R560, but the amount has remained in force pending finalization in the ongoing national budgetary process; hence, the present official amount for July 2025 is R510. 

Who does the Grant Benefit?

The aim of the grant is to provide assistance to care providers and parents of children under 18 under means testing. An applicant must:

  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee in South Africa
  • Be residing in South Africa with the child for whom the grant is claimed
  • Have earnings below the threshold (means-tested)

  • Send “Status” to 082 046 8553 via WhatsApp;
  • Call SASSA Call Centre at 0800 60 10 11; or
  • Ask consumers at ATMs or retail outlets for a slip when making payments through SASSA cards
