SASSA Grant Delay July 2025: 210,000 Payments Affected, How To Verify Yours

In a massive development, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that more than 210,000 grant payments were delayed in July, affecting a series of recipients from the Old Age Grant, Disability Grant, Child Support Grant, and the SRD R370 grant.

Most of the payments due on 2–4 July, 2025, went through without a hitch, while this technical snag has caused severe delays to thousands. SASSA said said that those delays came about as a result of banking verification failures, outdated account information on record, and delays in batch processing at some banks.

Checking If You Are Affected

If you have not received your grant by the due date:

1. SRD Website:

  • Go to [https://srd.sassa.gov.za](https://srd.sassa.gov.za) and click on “Check Status,” then enter your ID number and mobile number for information pertaining to your grant.

2. SASSA WhatsApp Service:

  • Save and store the WhatsApp number 082 046 8553 for your SASSA queries. Type “Status” and follow the prompts to choose whether you want to check if your payment was processed or delayed.

3. Telephone Toll-Free Number:

  • Call toll free at 0800 60 10 11 to speak to a SASSA agent who will check your grant status and confirm whether or not you are among the recipients affected.

4. Visit Your Nearest SASSA Office:

  • Go to your nearest SASSA office with your ID and SASSA card or reference number in case the online methods left you without answers!

Who Are Affected and What Is Next?

According to SASSA, the delays relate from:

  • Those persons whose banking details have changed or were not updated.
  • Those whose accounts did not pass verification checks.
  • Some applicants for SRD grants who had been approved but whose records had been flagged for further review.

SASSA said that “Payments now delayed will be processed within 7 to 10 working days and no beneficiary will lose access to the grant due to the delay.”
