SASSA Older Person Grants 2025 : If you are a senior citizen who depends on the SASSA Older Person Grant, here is some important information for August 2025. SASSA has confirmed that payment of the Older Person and Over 75th Grants will be made on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, giving much sort of clarity to beneficiaries scattered across the country.
August Payment Dates And Amounts
The grants will be payable on the 5th of August 2025 as follows:
- The Older Person Grant (60-74 years) : R2,315 per month.
- Over-75 put on the Older Person Grant : R 2,335 per month.
- War Veteran’s Grant : R2,315 also.
Disability Grant payments, set to take place on Wednesday, 6 August, will be followed by Children’s Grant payments on Thursday, 7 August. This is with an added fourth payment date for those undergoing profile verification on Friday, 8 August.
Who Is Eligible?
To be eligible for the Older Person Grant, the following are required:
- Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee.
- Be older than 60 years (with a slightly higher rate granted to those older than 75 years).
- Have a low income. Singles may earn less than R107,880 per year, with assets worth less than R1,524,600. Married recipients can earn up to R215,760, with assets up to R3,049,200.
- Not receiving any other SASSA grants and live in South Africa.
Application And Proof Of Life
When applying the first time, you must go to a nearby SASSA office with:
- Your South African bar-coded ID, or an affidavit if you stand in for a person who is incapable.
- Proof of residence, income, assets, and marital status.
Sometimes the current beneficiaries will have to give proof of life yearly. It is usually done at your local bank or SASSA office. If you fail to comply with it, payments will be delayed; however, the new fourth payment date assures continued access during the review.
How To Prepare
- Mark the payment date (5 August) on your calendar and, if possible, schedule withdrawals so as not to cause a rush.
- Update your card or bank details to avoid payment delays.
- If you are required to do reviews or present Proof of Life, please ensure that these are done before the first week of August.
- If your grant is being reviewed, payment will be made on 8 August, after cleared.
- Do not share your personal or banking details online. SASSA never asks for money or information through SMS texts or calls.
